  1. Nelson Mandela’s words often share his perspective on how inequality leads to conflict. His life and words are clearly linked to the ongoing struggle for equal treatment in South Africa, and his vision and wisdom is still a guide to his people. In the quotation, “As long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality persist in our world, none of us can truly rest”, Mandela clearly captures the idea that injustice for one is an injustice for all. It is difficult to argue with his perspective because of the many examples that exist in our world, today. If one group is not allowed the rights of others in a society, it is impossible to envision that society being prosperous and free of conflict. For example, the current situation at Standing Rock in the USA shows that unrest will continue if a group of people are not heard, or treated fairly. The natives in America are battling for the right to have their water and land protected, and they are finding that American Corporate interest/ profits are more important than their land. The injustice and gross inequality are creating tension and unrest to a group of Americans that are seldom seen, and less often heard.

  2. Mandela is the one of the biggest inspirations in world history and he had some huge influences on the world. His huge work for the rights in South Africa has changed our mind and his words affected us a lot. In the quotation «As long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality persist in our world, none of us can truly rest», he speaks about the problem in the world. It makes us think about the world and how the society is and he speaks about the unfair world. None of us can rest until we’ve made this society as equal for everyone as possible. People are living in poverty and still fighting for their life’s, while someone else is just chilling earning a lot of money. We shouldn’t rest until poverty and injustice is exterminated. It’s pretty easy to agree with these words if you’re against inequality, especially if you’re living in poverty or if you are oppressed yourself. For example, in Jamaica the Rastas didn’t have the same rights as the others in the society. They didn’t get support from the government. They didn’t have the same rights, their homes were taken from them and they didn’t have as much money as the others in the society.

  3. Mandelas message in the quote ''As long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality persists in our world, none of us can truly rest'' is that the world is unfair and has a lot of problems. He also says that we cannot rest until we have defeated poverty and injustice. I Agree with his words because it is very true that the world is unfair and that we all have to help to make the world a better place, in current time almost all the riches are in the hands of western people or capitalists. One example of an ongoing conflict is the ISIS/ISIL conflict, ISIS is an extreme islamic terrorist group and they want to qonquer the world and integrate sharia law into every society on earth, this includes segregation of women. ISIS has at the moment attacked more than a dousin countries, some they have invaded and some they have executed terrorist attacks, they are mainly fighting in Syria and neighbour countries but has also threatened and attacked countries all over the world. This shows what a religion can do to you, absolutely crazy.

  4. Nelson Mandela is a man with a very big heart, which is because he set other people in front of himself. He is a very good role model for many, and he was in prison for his meanings. He wanted black and white to have equal rights because every body is humans, and the whites are not better than the black people. “To deny someone their human rights is to challenge their own humanity.” He will say to the people that if the white people and the black people have the same rights the world will be much better, because if the white deny the black freedom it will be war. If suddenly some Africans come to Norway and take every white people in prison, we would be very angry, and it would ended up in a war. The quote is extremely good because it is hundred percent right and he was a so important person in this world. When the white took the human rights from the black, Mandela was one of the people that were set in prison. He fought for that it should be equal rights.
The cops in America have recently shot very many black people, that is not good. That just shows that it is racism in the world today.

  5. Nelson Mandela was and is a big inspiration for many people in the world. He has changed the world an specialy South Africa by fighting for the rights of the black people in South Africa. "To deny someone their human rights is to challenge their own humanity. This is a famous quotatinon by Mandela and what he ment with this was that everybody should be trated equaly. And if not you are selfish. And dont be afraid of new things. And at least he just wanted peace. This qoute is easy to agree with because Mandela just wanted peace and everybody to have at least equal rights. This qoute is about South Africa nad the same things that happend there happend in austrailia with the aorigenies. They got hunted and was treated like animals and didnt have the same rights as everybody else. This happend in austraila and still happens.

  7. Mandela is a realy big freedom fighter who also was the first black president in africa. he faught for the rigts in South Africa and thay impact alot of people and more people stood up for theyre rights. the quote "As long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality persist in our world, none of us can truly rest." is one of Mandelas messages. the meaning of this quote is as long as it is poverty and inequality in the world no one will rest or will have peace in the world. alot of people agrees with. Mandela has a point with what hes saying, to get rid of poverty and inequality, but it will be realy hard though but if we one day do we all can have peace and rest thats what Mandela is saying. poverty and injustice is still in this world today the place that it is the most of it is Africa alot of the people are poor today and not all of them has rights for eksample wimen.

  8. Nelson Mandela was a huge fighter for his people in South Africa. The white people controlled the county and the black Africans did not have the same rights as the white. One of Mandela’s most known quotations is "As long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality persist in the world, none of us can truly rest. The message behind those words is the biggest problem in the world, poverty and injustice. Mandela’s biggest project was in South Africa, but he was concerned of other conflicts in the world. He will defeat all forms of poverty and injustice in the world totally before he will relax. It is easy to agree with him, because the world is in war in more places than the place you live in, and if we relay want peace we can not relax until we have defeated it all. Mandela’s highest goal is to defeat poverty and injustice, and if he wants to compete the dream this is the only way to do it. The biggest problem with the Mandela’s goal now is the ISIS. They are problematic difficult to beat.

  9. Nelson Mandela has very much wisdom in his quotes. He has been and is still role model and inspirations for very many people. He fought for blacks human rights. He wanted everyone to be equal. And for his meanings he had to be in prison for 27 years. In his quote he says “To deny someone their human rights is to challenge their own humanity.” What I want to tell us in this quote is that if you take away someone’s humanity you have to think over what you are doing because you take away every thing form that human if you take away what make you human. If you are that person how take and other human to ha slave for example it must be something wrong with you. An example of this happening today is sexslaves its thousand of thousand of sexslaves in this world they can’t to what they want they are controlled by and other human. Nelson Mandela’s quote its good written because it stand so much between the lines so you can find out self what it means and believe what you found out and think over if you are a good human. If you where a white human on the time in South-Africa when it was apartheid, would you tread a brown human different?

  10. Nelson Mandela is a man that has had and still has a big role in this world. He helped to bring an end to apartheid (a system of racial segregation and discrimination in South Africa between 1948 and 1991). In Mandela’s quotation “As long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality persist in our world, none of us can truly rest” he speaks about that there is a lot of poverty in this world. Not everyone is living in poverty, but it still affects all human by not letting us rest. By not letting us rest he means that we feel sadness and wanting to help other people who live an unfair life. An example to this quotation; the organization Black lives matter, is an organization that fights against violence and racism towards black people in USA. They hold protest against the police for killings of black people. BLM are best known in their hashtag #BlackLivesMatter, that they use on social medias.

  11. Nelson Mandela is one of the largest and most influential freedom fighters in history. In his quote "As long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality persist in our world, none of us can truly rest." With this quote he says that none of us can fully rest until injustice is defeated an as long as this remains people will not be equal. Rich country’s are to rich and rich people have to much and lives in abundance. On the other had we got the poor people who work their asses off to survive through the day. His vise words are easy to agree with because we can tie his words up upon real-world example like in Australia for the aborigines. For a long time you could kill an aborigine in Australia without being punished for it.

  12. ‘’To deny someone their human rights is to challenge their own humanity’’
These words can mean that if there is people who deny others by their human rights, they might think that what they do, and who they are is more important than what other people do and who they are. Every human, both young, old, men or women are equal, and should be treated equally. The human rights is based on what each and everyone deserve. People should not be discriminated because of their skin colour, religion or what gender they are. This is what Nelson Mandela fought for all those years during the apartheid, the human rights for those in South Africa. You can say that what he wants to tell us with these word is that everyone have to be treated equal, no matter where you came from or how you identify yourself. It is easy to agree with Nelsom Mandela’s words, beacuse the words he say is so true. Everyone should be treated equaly and not be treated by their skin colour or on their religion. People can not say that a person is bad or good by just looking at the person, they have to know him and know what he can. Freedom is a word that view a perspective about how Nelson Mandela want it to be in the world.

  14. Nelson Mandela was properly the most importain person for the African and the black people. He was a man that fought for the black people rights and he stood for his words regardless what the white people did or said to him. His work for people in South Africa affected the black and white people a lot. “As long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality persist in our world, none of us can truly rest” Mandela wants to show people the problems in the world. This quote make people think about the world on other ways. Mandela speaks about societies and how it affected the people. He wanted to get equal rights for every black people. Most people in the world agree with his meanings and words today. Mandela expressed himself trough this quote, he wanted to express that while some people have to fight to survive other people don’t do anything. He wanted justice for all the black people in prison. He wanted to live in peace with the white without any conflicts. For example in Saudi Arabia the woman’s don’t have rights to drive a car. In Saudi Arabia it is protest every day to get justice for the woman’s because they want equal rights.

  15. Nelson Mandela fought to end apartheid, which divided people in South Africa based on race. Mandela was the world’s most prominent symbol of peace and reconciliation. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Price in recognition of the work of the democratization of South Africa. “To deny someone their human rights is to challenge their own humanity” is one of his many famous quotes. The meaning behind this quote is that everybody has the same rights, whether you are black, white, Asian or African. No one should be denied their own human rights. These words are true because everybody should be treated with dignity, respect and equality. An example of this happening today is the aborigines in Australia. The aborigines migrated to Australia for about 45,000 years ago. The aboriginal people have had their land stolen from them since the British people invaded Australia for about 4000 years ago. The aborigines in Australia still face racist attitudes and there are incidents of violence towards them. They have really bad living conditions and a far higher infant mortality rate and suicide rate. They also have a lower life expectancy then the rest of the Australian population. In article 2 in the universal declaration of human rights it says that everyone has freedom from discrimination. Article 17 says that everyone has right to own property. These are two of the human rights which fit with what Mandela fought for and the injustice that the aboriginal people experiences.

  16. Nelson Mandala tried to make a difference, which influenced many people. Mandela was a freedom fighter, and worked for the black people rights, and his thoughts and words changed peoples view on human rights. When Mandela said “As long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality in our world, none of us can truly rest”, he told the world about their problems. Mandela meant that if we want a peaceful world, every human being have to work for it. We can’t stop fighting for freedom before justice and poverty has ended, and the world will not change by itself. More people should do something about the justice in the world, and there is too many who just feel bad for the people who live in poverty and injustice. The words Mandela said is easy to agree with, because everyone should be treated equal. It’s not fair that some can’t afford to take care of themselves, while others can live life just the way they want. Someone who lives like this is for example people in South Africa. A lot of people in South Africa earn little money, and can barely take care of themselves and their family. People in South Africa are struggling to get enough money to survive. People in rich countries, like in Norway, this is not a big problem at all. If someone in Norway should have the same pay as some in South Africa, is it small chance that they would survive in a rich country. As a result of this, the world is still unfair, and we can’t rest before poverty, injustice and gross inequality are exterminated!

  17. Nelson Mandela has been an important man for the black people in South Africa. He has fought for them, not by violence but with words. Not only has he helped the blacks in his country, he has motivated others to stand up for their rights and fight for them. In the quotation “As long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality persist in our world, none of us can truly rest”, he speaks about one the main problem in the world. He shows that as long as poverty still exists, no one can rest, and what is meant by this is that everyone has to work for poverty and inequality to vanish. No one can just do nothing, everyone has to participate to make this change. It`s really easy to agree with these words if you are against inequality and you want to exterminate poverty. One example of this is in Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia the women can´t drive a car and they have to wear a hijab. The women can get raped without the man who committed this crime gets caught. This shows how much of a difference there is between the men and women in Saudi Arabia

  18. Nelson Mandela was the most important man for the african and black people. The message that he wrote "To deny someone their human rights is to challenge their own humanity." is one of his many important quotes/messages. With this message he meant that everyone have the same rights, even if you are black or white, muslim or christian, no matter what, everyone should have the same rights and never judge someone because of who they are or where they come from. I really agree with his message, because it is not right to judge someone because of who they are, it is not right to deny someone their rights because of where they come from. Nelson Mandela fought for his country and his people. He did not judge anyone and he did not deny someone their rights.

  19. The quotation, “To deny someone their human rights is to challenge their own humanity” means someone does not respected you as who you are. Women from Nigeria and others country get exploited as prostitutes. Some of them get kidnapped and get forced to be a prostitute; others may get tricked with a job, and end up as prostitute, they can also be threatened with family. The dark skinned did not have a choice and that does not these women nether.

  20. Nelson Mandela is one of the greatest freedom fighters through history and he’s a role model for the rest of the world. He has worked really hard against apartheid and has changed the life to the black South Africans. “As long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality persist in our world, none of us can truly rest.” This quote shows the big problems we have in our world. The quote makes us think about how unfair and awful our world can be. None of us can rest before everyone is being treated as equals and before all these things like poverty and injustice have been fought. It’s easy to agree to the things Mandela said in this quote, because no one should be treated different just because of their skin color, like the South Africans were. In Australia the aborigines didn’t have the same rights as the white Australians had. At some point the Australians could even kill an aborigine without being punished for it.

  21. Denying someone their human rights is to challenge their humanity.

Nelson Mandela was a man who fought for human justice. Mandela was sentenced to life imprisonment. When Madel was in jail all the 27 years he was the main African black leader in South Africa. He became a symbol of resistance against apartheid.
Denying someone something that means a lot to them, is to challenge it they are and their selfconfidence . That’s true. It's not easy to get a challenge on who they are as a person. When one is weak already, it may vertfall be a challenge.
Surely you thought the slave trade ended sometime in the 1800s, when legal prohibitions were put in place, you need to think again. Today there are about 27 million people as forced and threatened to work without pay, who are exposed to violence and who can not come and go as they please. Many women are raped and die from bad food relation. The largest group of slaves found in India and the countries around and is linked to debt bondage, where private people who borrow money takes such high interest rates that they own borrowers. The debt is passed so that children and grandchildren are born into slavery.

  22. Nelson Mandela was a great man that fought for the human rights, and he was a big inspiration for the black people. He wanted everyone to have the same rights, and he was the first black president in South Africa. The time before he was president, he spent a lot of years in prison, because he fought for justice. “To deny someone their human rights is to challenge their own humanity.” This is one of Mandelas many quotes. This quote means that if you are not allowed to have the same rights as others, you are not treated like a human. And he wants to tell everybody that we all are equal, even if you are black or white. All human should be treated with respect and everyone needs to have the same human rights. If not someone would feel like they are “challenged their own humanity”. I agree with this quote, because I mean that if humans are not treated the same and some people want to have all the power, then there will be a big separation between groups. We all have to be treated with the same rights. Power and violence are two things that often are very similar. To earn power there are often violence involved. If we look at an example; In Australia for a very long time ago, the Aborigines lived in peace. Then in 1770 the british came to Australia, to take over the control and have all the power. The Aborigines got killed, and a lot ended up as slaves, their life got literally turned upside down. Until 1967 they were not considered as humans, you could kill one and not have to go to prison.
